The Makeup Show NYC: From the Show Floor

tms 4
(Me, Melody from Cosmetically Challenged and Casey from Beauty101)

Happy Monday everyone!

I have had a busy weekend, full of makeup and good times! I covered The Makeup Show NYC yesterday, and attended a blogger preview and cocktail event on Saturday. I’m posting some quick overviews of things I saw while wandering the show floor, chatting with brands. I have a LOT of pictures to share! And I have many more that I don’t have room to share in just one post, so I’ll save some for my reviews of brand products!

First up! The blogger preview included a lot of beauty bloggers and vloggers together to hear what kind of education would be offered at the show (which is happening today, too, but I had to go to work, boo!), and to also hear more about product launches or product favorites from different brands. James Vincent, who heads up the educational program at The Makeup Show, gave the presentation to all of us:

There was a funny moment when he shared with us Danessa Myrick’s new Magic Touch makeup applicator, and he invited her on stage:

Danessa is beautiful and her dress was fabulous!!!

I traveled to NYC for the night with Melody from Cosmetically Challenged, and we had a blast hanging out, meeting and mingling with other bloggers and pros Saturday and Sunday. Here we are before the start of the preview:

Later, at the cocktail event, which honored Wojciech Inglot, the founder of Inglot Cosmetics who passed away earlier this year, a tribute played on a big screen.

There were also some fabulous makeup tributes to Mr. Inglot by some of the pros at the show, like Eve Pearl and Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics.

On Sunday, the show got off to a crazy busy start! There were so many people in line, eager to tackle the day! And it got SO CRAZY PACKED!!!

I ended up spending a lot of time visiting brands taking it all in with Claudia from Chromatic Misadventures:

One of our first stops was Inglot! I wanted to check and see if they had the new Satin Rainbow eye shadows. They didn’t, but they had their new eyeliners, and here’s their creamy Colour Play:

Next stop? NARS.

The new Satin Lip Pencils!!!!! The rep swatched all of them on me!

tms 9
I got two – top row, furthest on the right (Floralies) and top row, second from left, (Jardin Des Plantes).

Another of my very first stops was Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics. Because I’m obsessed with Lip Tars.

And I needed to see these in real life – the new Stained Gloss Lip Tars:

I have Voyeur, Androgyne, Meta, New  Wave and Rhythm Box. I think I’m missing Jealous!  So I can’t wait to swatch them all, and also pick up Jealous (or Jealousy, I have to check!)

I stopped by Kevyn Aucoin, which was created by Kevyn in 2002 before his death, and saw one of their top products, the Sensual Skin Enhancer:

tms 8
You can use it for everything – it can conceal, blend with your foundation or eye cream and prime your eyes. It sounds pretty amazing!

Over at Ofra Cosmetics, I got a peek at the new Woodstock Fixline Eyeliner Gel Collection!

Check these pretties out:

The lighting isn’t perfect, but in the top row there’s a spring green on the right, a yellow next to it, nude and a white. Middle is a vibrant purple, light blue and bottom is a fiery color. Ofra was one of my favorite brand discoveries at The Makeup Show Orlando last November!

And you guys know the awesome nail polish from Italian brand Layla Cosmetics? I LOVE this brand. Some of my favorite polishes are from the Hologram Effect, Soft Touch Effect and Ceramic Effect lines…well, now, the brand is bringing their cosmetics to the USA!

Not only are they bringing their makeup – which I’ll share more information later! – but they’re launching a pro line of nail polish and you should have SEEN the NEON!

Armour Beauty was there with the 23 colors in their beautiful lip gloss collection!

Here’s founder Theo wearing Divine, one of the newer colors:

LOVE her hair.

I discovered a new brand, called Make.

Make has a great philosophy, if you read in that first photograph. And their products are beautiful and colorful. They just launched. Here’s the story, from the We See Beauty website: “We See Beauty is a for-benefit marketplace of ideas, stories and products that support the cooperative movement. A movement that believes that through shared ownership we can establish a more equitable and beautiful society for all. We believe in starting local with the hope that these ideas spread globally. By selling beautiful ideas and products, including MAKE - the first for-benefit brand of We See Beauty – we can empower local economies and strengthen communities, starting with our own in New York.”

One of the brands I enjoyed meeting and seeing at The Makeup Show Orlando was in NYC this time, and showing off their colorful hues of pigments, lippies and glitter. Magnolia Makeup is a jazzy New Orleans-based brand!

Aren’t their products so colorful?!

And remember I mentioned Daness Myricks earlier? With her I Make You Beautiful line, she’s introducing The Magic Touch makeup applicator:

It uses air compression, eliminating the need for primer or powder, and helps makeup to NOT settle into fine lines. I can’t wait to use this miracle worker!

Also, I couldn’t resist these little cream pigments – good for everything! Eyes, cheeks, lids:

I also met a new-to-me brand called Michael Marcus.

tms 15

This brand was started in 1998, and uses botanical ingredients. The idea is to use less makeup on your face, but brighter colors! Popular products include the brand’s liquid makeup foundation, which has pharma-grade aloe vera. They have some pretty nail polishes and lipsticks, too. Everything is made in the USA!

One of the things I love about the show floor at trade events is the theatrical makeup that artists craft all day. Here’s a taste of some from around the event. Here’s an ethereal look with Kett Cosmetics:

And check out this tea-and-cupcake body art at Mehron:

The coolest thing here is the eyes painted on the eyelids, complete with lashes – at Make Up For Ever Academy:

tms 34

When she opened her eyes, it was just too cool to watch them when they closed again.

I also had a great moment where I met the face behind the brand and was so excited at how sweet he was. I wasn’t able to stop by and meet A.J. Crimson at TMS Orlando, so I made sure to meet him yesterday! I’ll share more about my visit and so many others in future posts! I picked up his BB Cream, so I will be sure to review that for you – I’ve heard amazing things. Here we are at the show – what a sweetheart:

tms 32

I’ll stop there for now. I have so many great products coming up for review, but boy oh boy, I am facing another busy week and I will try to get a post up everyday! I may not have one tomorrow, we’ll see.

If I were going back today, I would be focusing more on the education, there are a couple sessions, including one on social media, that I would love to have attended. If you are there today, leave a comment and share how the show is going on day two! We’d love to know!

What do you think of the brands in this post? Have you heard of all of them? Any that you’re curious about?! I can’t wait to try Make and Michael Marcus!!
