A couple weeks ago I went to Wet n’ Wild‘s NYC blogger party for the brand’s official launch of the Fergie Center Stage Collection (shown above), and other new products for 2013.
It was really a celebration of Wet n’ Wild’s rebranding and evolution! In marketing materials, the brand describes its new focus, with a pulse on Los Angeles this way: “The flavors of L.A. are reflected in both our brand promise and product experience. From translating the latest trend with product tips and tricks to identifying each shade and developing every formula, we deliver the highest standards of style and quality.”
Wet n’ Wild has always been a brand I’ve trusted, from the first pale, frosty lipstick and pale pink nail polish I bought in grammar school, to the Fergie collection I bought when it first appeared in Walgreens earlier this year. So I was excited to learn more about the brand, and I’m excited to share some product reviews from the Fergie and core launches!
I figured I’d kick things off with my favorite…LIPSTICK.
The Fergie Perfect Pout Lip Color comes in a shade range from a light nude cream to a dark black cream; the formula reminds me of the MegaLast Lip Color.
Here’s an arm swatch of all the Ferg-a-licious lippies:
I’ve got lip swatches for each, too; for some colors I have two pics – in the sun/with flash or in natural lighting/inside.
Fergie Daily is a creamy nude. This is a perfect lipstick for bold eye looks, and work, of course!
Bebot Love is a browner nude than Fergie Daily; it’s another creamy lippie. I was surprised that both Bebot Love and Fergie Daily worked so well with my fairer skintone.
V. I. Pink:
V. I. Pink is a creamy pop of light pink. I love this one!
Penthouse Sweet is a creamy bubble gum pink. This is another favorite.
Fuchsianista is a bold fuchsia with blue undertones. This lippie is HOT! I wore it to the Wet n’ Wild event, and I had to pose with a bowl of MegaLast lip colors because they’re one of my favorites:
D-Vinely Chilled is a wine, metallic shimmer. Like a couple others, I wore this lipstick a few times before writing my review, and after a couple weeks of not wearing it, it was a bit dry going on my lips. It’s not the same creamy formula as most of the other lipsticks. Once I got it going it applied a little easier.
Old School Glam:
Old School Glam is a bright red with a pop of orange – creamy and well-pigmented!
Saraghina is a true red cream.Definitely a hot red.
Ferguson Crest Cabernet:
Ferguson Crest Cabernet surprised me by being totally wearable; I tend to think deep plums are going to look bad against my pale skin but this one looked good. And I didn’t touch it up ONCE. ALL DAY. I wore this from about 7:30 a.m. and STILL had lipstick on my lips when I left the office at 5-something p.m. It wasn’t perfect but I didn’t notice the wear enough to bother reapplying during my busy workday, apparently. Talk about quality staying-power!!
Pagan Angel is a black cream. I’ve never actually put a black lipstick on and I looked so different! Of course, I test drove this after using Anastasia Hypercolor Brow & Hair Powder in Teal Tornado so I look very different…Here’s a pic:
Quite frankly, I’m not sure why I look so serious, LOL! But I don’t know that I will sport this look. Black lipstick just isn’t me.
Overall, this is a great collection of lipstick colors. I love that there are lighter nude shades, that pair well with some of the bolder eye shadow quads in the Fergie Center Stage Collection, and then bolder lip choices that are totally on trend.
Although D-Vinely Chilled was a bit dry, overall I found the formula of these lipsticks comparable to the MegaLast Lip Color, which I love as well. The Perfect Pout lippies lasted me with only need for touch up, not necessarily reapplication, around lunchtime.
The color didn’t bleed or feather, either, which is key because bold lipsticks can make you look cheap when they bleed and feather!
The packaging is nice, as well. I love the silver tubes, and I love being able to see the top of the lipstick so I know which one I’m grabbing when I go to paint my pout!
These retail for $3.49, and they’ve been available at mass market retailers, like Walgreens, since February (although I found them much earlier). Have you tried the Fergie lipsticks yet? Which one is your favorite?!
At the event, the brand told us they want to hear our feedback, so I welcome you to share your thoughts on these lipsticks in the comments below!
