NYFW: Boy Meets Girl

Boy Meets Girl designer Stacy Igel told me the fall/winter collection on her runway was inspired by the British pop surge in the 90s, for the “fearless, powerful girl who lives out loud.”

Think Spice Girls, and think FUN!

Backstage beauty, with head makeup artist James Vincent using Kevyn Aucoin products ranged from a bold, red lip and a dark blue eye on older models, to a softer, red lip and thinner eyeliner on younger girls.

Here’s the “University” girls look:

James said the teen lip look was achieved by dabbing red on the lip to give them a “popsicle effect;” a light, stained look.

The youngest runway models – as young as five-years-old – wore just a little bit of red-tinted lip gloss and a touch of bronzer.

James said he worked a lot with Creamy Moist Blush in Patrice, using it for lips and cheeks, as well as Celestial Bronzer. Brows, he said, polished and natural, were a big focus in the looks he created for the show.

Check out the before and after for model and beauty vlogger Casandra Bankson, otherwise known as DiamondsandHeels14 on Youtube. Here she is getting her hair done at the Conair hair station:

What a beauty before AND after! She was sweet, too. Check out her vlog here.

Over at the nail station, Nail Taxi owner Cinnamon Bowser and celebrity manicurist Ajahmure Clovis of Her Nails Rock used Cult Nails to create black and white funky French manis, and nails with writing. Here’s a couple of their manis:

I wish I’d been able to stay and see the runway show – Leah Labelle from American Idol performed her debut single, “Lolita.” Real House Wives of New Jersey star Teresa Guidice’s daughter Gia walked in the show.

Keep a look out for the red lip to maintain power into fall and winter, as well as those strong, dense brows.

What do you think of Boy Meets Girl? What about the makeup and nails for this show – can you dig the funky French and the red lip?! I’d love to hear your thoughts.
