I stopped at Walgreens a couple weeks ago to check if they had the new Wet n’ Wild Fergie goodies, which they did. But do you think I walked away with only those? Of course not!
I also went home with one of the 18 shades from Revlon’s new ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipsticks – a bubble gum pink called High Heels.
The new Ultimate Suede Lipsticks are supposed to provide moisturizing, 16-hour color, according to the free brochure I picked up off the display.
But did it deliver?
When you turn the lipstick up, it clicks a couple times then the rest of the way it’s smooth. The plastic cap is nice and snug on the tube, so I don’t have to worry about it coming off in my makeup bag.
Here’s a swatch:
You can tell from the up-close picture that my upper lip has a little dryness to it.
I applied this lipstick about 7:30 a.m., and around 8:45/9 a.m., I realized my lips were…tacky. They didn’t feel moist or dry, they felt sticky. I smacked my lips together and they stuck for a couple second before popping away from each other.
The color lasted until lunch, about 12:30 p.m./1 p.m. After I ate, my lips felt dry. However, I still had color. You could definitely see where I’d worn it off. Also, late morning I caught myself chewing on my lip at the lipstick and the bits of dry on my lips.
I can say I won’t buy any more of these lipsticks. They are nicely packaged, the color was pretty and pigmented, but I didn’t enjoy how it felt to wear it. There are other long-wearing lipsticks that don’t feel tacky. And for the $9.99 I spent, I’d rather buy something I reapply than this.
Have you tried any of these lipsticks yet? Are you planning to? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
