When I saw the press release from Milani Cosmetics about their new Color Statement Lipsticks and Lipliners, I knew I was going broke.
Not only am I obsessed with lipsticks, but I’m obsessed with the bright lip trend right now, as I’ve mentioned (I probably mention it too much, right? Haha)! Milani’s new line totally caters to to my lips and bright lips obsession, and I don’t know whether to say THANK YOU or DAMN YOU to Milani, LOL!
The shades I have to share with you today are the vibrant and highly-pigmented reds and oranges from the line. I also have a red and nude lipliner to share from the line, as well. Check out the swatches of Color Statement Lipliner in True Red on the left, and All Natural on the right:
The liners are easy to apply – they glide right on – and they are also really well-pigmented. Here’s a close-up of the pencil:
True Red goes very well with Red Label.
Here’s All Natural on my lips:
A great base for the orange and brown/nude hues in the collection.
And here’s True Red:
Wear it alone and you have a matte red!
The liners don’t feel drying on the lips, either, which is a nice shift from liners I’ve used in the past (with a few exceptions, of course!). They are simply matte.
So, back to the lipsticks! Here’s swatches of all the reds and oranges, together. This one is in the sunlight:
This one is in the shade:
SO pigmented and gorgeous! How about lip swatches?! For the reds, I did a shot with flash (that will be the first pic), and a shot in natural light. I think the natural light allows you to see the subtle differences in the shades.
High Voltage is considered a “vinyl” finish.
Red Label has a cream finish, which is less shiny than the vinyl finish. It still looks moisturizing on my lips.
Cherry Crave is the only red with shimmer, and is labeled with a metallic finish.
Carly, from Lacquered Lover, was wearing the matte-finish Best Red when I hung out with her in NYC this past Saturday! She always looks great in red lipstick, and I told her she still had it goin’ on strong hours later, after we’d done a little shopping, walking, cabbing around and lunching.
Ruby Valentine is a vinyl finish shade. It seems to me the shiny version of Best Red.
Sweet Nectar is a brilliant orange in a cream finish.
Orange-Gina has a bronzey shimmer and a pearl finish. I love how my pic looks a little hazy, like I meant to do that, haha. I had clearer pics but this was my favorite!
These lipsticks impress me just as much as the brand’s Color Perfect Lipstick did, but they smell sweeter. So far, Color Statement is proving to have staying power, it feels good on my lips…and I can’t pick a favorite color among those reds. I don’t own any bold orange lipsticks, and I’m really digging the look.
The lipliners and lipsticks from the Color Statement line will be available at CVS, Target, Walgreens, Walmart and Kmart, and of course, are available on Milani’s website (link is at the top of the post). The liners retail for $3.99 a piece, and the lipsticks retail for $5.49 a piece.
For the price, you can’t beat the quality. For those who love brights, for those who love reds, this is a great choice. And for the price, those who need to try and see which red is best, will be well served buying a $5.49 lipstick that gives long wear.
What do you think of Milani’s Color Statement line so far?! See any must-haves?! I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
