NYX Bohemian Chic Palette

What I love about the NYX Cosmetics Bohemian Chic palette, a nude matte collection, is that it’s not just basic neutrals.

Bohemian Chic has 24 soft matte eye shadows that vary is subtle earth tones, but that doesn’t mean variations of brown and black – there are smoky greens, blues and a wine color, too, so you can add subtle pops of color in your nude eye look.

Oh, and did I mention there’s also two blushes – a bright pink and a bright peach that complement the neutral shades perfectly?

I think Bohemian Chic is the recessionista’s answer to the nude and naked palettes put out by more expensive prestige brands.

The palette has two levels. There are 18 shadows in the first level, and six shadows and two blushes – along with two double-ended sponge eye shadow applicators - in the second level. The second tier pulls out from under the first.

My pics of the blushes don’t do them justice, they are brighter and deeper in real life!

How about some hand/arm swatches first?

I’ll start with the blushes:

Here’s the six shadows from the second tier:

Overall, the shadows are pretty well pigmented and easy to apply. I’ve been using this palette for a couple months (I am probably overdue on providing this review! LOL) and I love it.

It’s compact, so it’s great for travel. With such neutral eyes, it’s nice to have the pops of color offered by the blush, and I can always pair a bolder lippie with my eyes if I want to step up my face of the day! Here’s a couple looks I did using the palette. For this one I used a blush and shadows:

And another…

More…random eye shots…

All of these eye looks and blushes lasted all day; I used Urban Decay Primer Potion under the shadows.

I have favorite drug store brands and I have favorite prestige brands. If I had to lump NYX into a category, I’d put it somewhere in the middle. It’s become one of my favorite middle-of-the-road brands – I love looking at different products and colors in the display at Ulta. Nothing I’ve tried from the brand has let me down. I also, by the way, have a couple other product reviews coming from this brand soon – lipsticks, lip glosses and eyeliners.

While I overwhelmingly like what I post about on BeautyJudy, it’s nice to feel excitement over sharing a new product with you. That’s how I feel about Bohemian Chic (and the Be Free palette I reviewed here last week!).

Bohemian Chic is available now, and retails for $18. I’ve seen it at Ulta. It’s also available on the NYX website.

Have you seen this? What do you think of Bohemian Chic? Does it pique your interest?
