Welcome to my third Teal Toes roundup for September and Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month!
I’ll share with you what this photo of the Color Club ovarian awareness polishes is about after we check out this week’s Teal Toes for awareness…
Here’s Janes’s Teal Toes:
Jane and company are sporting Sally Hansen The Real Teal. Here’s her story:
“Here is a photo of me with my Teal Toes inspiration, my sister, Sue:
She is pictured on the left. We lost her two years ago at the too-young age of 55, just one month short of her 56th birthday. She was so full of life, fit and so young-looking for her age. Sue tested BRCA 2 positive after her OC diagnosis and urged me to take the BRCA test as well. In the fall of 2006, I also tested positive for BRCA 2; it looked as though I was on the same path as my sister.
After finding out the cancer had metastasized to her brain (three years later) she made me promise her that if she did not come out on the other side of the brain surgery, I would take care of myself and have preventive surgery to remove my breasts. I’d already had my ovaries removed as a preventive measure but was “on the fence” about the boobies.
I promised her I would, and I did. One month after she passed away I had the preventative mastectomies and reconstructive surgery. It wasn’t easy and I had many complications, but I’m here today and I’d do it all again. I want to be around for my kids & hubby and everyone else and SPREAD the WORD…in my own little way.”
Thank you for sharing your story with BeautyJudy followers, Jane. You and your sister are both beautiful women!
Gina’s teal mani:
Gina has a YouTube channel here! She is also an ovarian cancer survivor, and wearing her teal proudly to bring awareness to this disease. For her mani, she used:
- Diamond Cosmetics Don’t Teal My Heart Away
- Orly Gumdrop
- Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Teal-Y Fast
- Pure Ice Super Star
- Bundle Monster Plate BM321
- Rhinestones from Cheeky
Video on how to get this look here.
Thank you for sharing, Gina – love your YT channel!!
Connie’s teal mani:
Connie, who is a lovely, beautful blogger who blogs here at Mimi’s Manis, used Diamond Cosmetics Don’t Teal My Heart Away, with Lush Lacquer Salt n’ Peppa on top. Connie said, “It is a privilege for me anytime I can do a post to support any type of cancer awareness. I’ve had too many friends and family pass away from it and my only uncle left is fighting lung cancer right now.”
I’m thinking of your uncle, Connie. XO
Julie’s Teal Toes:
Julie used OPI Teal the Cows Come Home for her Teal Toes! She said, “My close friend Karri was diagnosed with Stage IV Ovarian Cancer earlier this summer, has had surgery and is currently undergoing chemo treatments. She is a single Mom to a beautiful teen daughter. I learned about Teal Toes from her over the past few months and wish to help raise awareness however I can.”
Happy to help raise awareness, too, Julie. I’m sending good vibes and well wishes to Karri and to you, for keeping her in your heart!!
Linda’s Teal Toes!:
Linda, who runs “a quirky little blog about all things important” called Giggles, Gobbles & Gulps – what a great name! – is happy to help raise awareness of this silent killer by painting her toes teal. She used a teal from a L.A. Color Color Craze set that her sons got her for Mother’s Day! Aw!!! Now those are some smart boys!!
Thank you, again, to everyone who submitted their Teal Toes this week and in weeks past. You have one more week to submit your teal – both toes and manis!
