OPI Germany Collection

Although we aren’t even engaged yet, Mike and I have always talked about doing the “homeland tour” for our honeymoon. We would love to visit Germany and Holland, because we both have German ancestry, and I have Dutch ancestry!

I was completely thrilled that this year OPI decided to do both a Holland and a Germany collection, like they read our minds or something…maybe OPI is trying to tell us this is our year to get engaged? Do you know something I don’t, OPI?!

Ha, well, getting back to the polish…OPI Germany for fall is a 12-piece collection with a range of color choices to it, and it reminds me of some of the sites I saw when I visited Munich in 2008!

Glockenspiel in Marienplatz (in Munich) reminds me of Berlin There Done That

“Designers showcased rich colors and striking textures for fall,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director, in a press release.  “The Germany Collection beautifully complements these looks, with standout shades in various hues of red and burgundy – the season’s ‘new black…The overall feel of the Germany Collection is elegance with an edge. The varied palette of colors adds another accent to the list of special touches – think beadwork, paneling, fur and embroidery – that walked the runways during New York Fashion Week. Wearing these shades on fingers and toes is a great way to accessorize a range of looks for the season.”

How about some swatches?!

Don’t Pretzel My Buttons:

Don’t Pretzel My Buttons is described by OPI as a “haute honey beige.” It’s a neutral with a creamy look.

Don’t Talk Bach to Me:

Don’t Talk Bach to Me is a pretty, muted lime-yellow green. It reminds me a bit of OPI Fiercely Fiona from the Shrek Collection, but it’s not a dupe.

Berlin There Done That:

Berlin There Done That is a taupe that seems to wear a bit more grey against my ruddy skin tone than it looks in the bottle. Nice fall staple.

My Very First Knockwurst:

My Very First Knockwurst is blushing nude. I liked this one a lot, considering I usually go for louder colors. Also, the name reminds me of ordering white sausages at Hofbrauhaus in Munich:

The white sausages are the in the bowl half cut out on the left side of the picture. And apparently the guy to my right never saw a tourist before?! Hahaha

Schnapps Out of It:

Schnapps Out of It is described as a mauve by OPI, but it’s really too orange to be mauve in my opinion. However, it’s the kind of color I can see the brand adding to its core line. And it’s a great, kind of Santa Fe-New Mexico type of orange with white shimmer.

Nein! Nein! Nein! OK Fine!:

Nein! Nein! Nein! OK Fine! is a vampy, well-pigmented blackened olive. I love the dusty, yet dark feel to this green. It’s a little lighter than the greens we were all going ga-ga for back in 2009 (Sephora by OPI Dark Room, or Orly Enchanted Forest anyone?!)

 Deutsch You Want Me Baby?:

Deutsch You Want Me Baby? is a fiery red-orange! Love this.

Unfor-Greta-Bly Blue:

Unfor-Greta-Bly Blue is a pretty bright blue shimmer. Color doesn’t seem unique, but you can’t do a German collection without a blue, in my opinion. It reminds me of a color I might favor if I wore a dirndl!

Suzi & the 7 Düsseldorfs:

Suzi & the 7 Düsseldorfs is a magenta-leaning purple shimmer.

Danke-Shiny Red:

Danke-Shiny red is a glowing, jewel red!

German-icure by OPI:

German-icure by OPI is one burning, glowing burgundy! This is one of my favorites from the collection. I saved my favorite two for last!

Every Month is Oktoberfest:

Every Month is Oktoberfest is described as a plum by OPI, but it is more – this polish does not have the multi-chromal shimmer of Clarins 230 (aka, Unicorn Pee), but it has the base of it. It’s got a very bright blurple base, which you can see on the very tip of my nails in that last photo. The shimmer is rich and the color seems complex. This is my favorite of the collection! So glowy and beautiful!

Overall, no complaints on this collection. Application was a breeze. Pigmentation was perfect in two coats on all of them. Interesting color choices – from that lime-yellow to Every Month is Oktoberfest. This collection just struck a chord with me, and I enjoyed swatching it. I start “officially” wearing my fall collection choices after Labor Day, so I’m counting down the days!!

I’ve got one more picture from my trip to Germany to share, that I think is timely! While there, I visited the Munich summer games Olympic park. I went to the top of the Olympic tower, checked out the swimming hall, and walked around the park. I took this shot from the Tower:

The Olympic Stadium!

What do you think of OPI Germany?! What are your hits and misses from this collection? Do you think OPI has the insider info on my possible engagement this year?! hahaha. Share your thoughts below!!

Cant compete with the grabbing of the buns comment LOL!
I picked up German-icure and Every Month is Oktoberfest also. Those colors just jumped out at me. I am thinking of picking up Deutsch You Want Me Baby.

I don’t know what to feel about the Nein color. Some blogs it looks grey, some lean more deep olive.

The guy behind you is trying to gauge whether or not he should touch your butt.
