Milani Cosmetics has released eight new shades of its Color Perfect Lipstick, available at select CVS store locations and here on Milani’s website. I’ve got six of those shades to swatch and review for you!
These lipsticks are very luxe. They are rich shades that suit a number of occasions; the colors run the spectrum from literally “Barely There,” perfect for the 9-to-5, to “Red Label,” perfect for the after hours cocktail party and LBD:
Left to right: Nude Creme, Brown Suede, Red Label, Plum Deluxe, Red Velvet and Barely There. Not shown is Pink Passion and Pink Love.
Here’s a shot of the lipstick head (this is Plum Deluxe):
How about some swatches?
Nude Creme is a creamy, warm shade.
Barely There is a creamy, nude shade
Brown Suede is a brown with a tint of wine color and a golden shimmer.
Red Label is a fire-engine red creme.
Red Velvet is a Marilyn Monroe red creme.
Plum Deluxe is a deep wine pearl. It’s the only one that didn’t really go well with my fairer complexion.
Overall, these lipsticks are amazing. I wore each one, even Plum Deluxe, which was just not a good color for me. I applied them between 7/7:30 a.m., and at lunch time, noon-ish, they were still holding on. Especially the darker shades. I would touch up after lunch and be great the rest of the day. I needed very little maintenance to look good with these lipsticks.
The formula on these is creamy, and stayed creamy for hours. Towards lunchtime, I did feel less moisturized, and more like my lips were simply stained with the color.
Some lipsticks have a distinctive smell. Some smell like vanilla, some like roses. Milani Color Perfect Lipstick smells rich to me. Like my grandmother’s department store lipstick that I was not allowed to touch. It is a strong scent, and I can’t describe it any other, better way. It’s sweet, but not like fruit or candy. It smells like, to me…department store lipstick from the 80s.
As I mentioned at the beginning of the post, these are available from Milani’s website, and also at select CVS locations. The colors depicted on line for shopping are not too far off the true color of the lipstick, which means I’ll be ordering Pink Love, which is a new shade I don’t have here but looks great and definitely like a “me” color! At $4.99, these are a steal.
