JESSICA’s Spring Awakening Collection for Spring 2012 is mostly muted hues, taking inspiration from the butterfly and its transformation from earthbound caterpillar to winged beauty.
The color palette of this six-piece collection goes from slate grey, soft blue and creamy taupe to a nuetral opaque pink, greyed-out lavendar and bright coral. I wore this collection instead of straight swatching it, so it took me a little longer to get my review together!
How about we jump right into swatches?!
Sky High is a gorgeous soft blue creme.
Soar is a creamy taupe.
Monarch is a slate grey. I used Monarch when I did my first mani for someone! Mike’s brother’s girlfriend (someday I hope to just be able to say, “my sister-in-law,” it’s so much less complicated!) wanted something special for her nails because of a fancy wedding they were headed to a couple weekends ago. I did Monarch, with stamping in white and a red rhinestone on each ring finger to tie together the red polish she said was on her toes:
Sunrise is a pale, neutral pink creme.
Flutter is a muted lavendar, or another take on the gra-ple.
Wing It is a gorgeous coral shimmer that pops next to the rest of the colors in this collection.
Neutrals bore me. I mean, I don’t hate these colors. I understand they are trendy right now, and I wear them. But I have to put a glittery accent finger with them or else I could fall asleep looking at my nails. And I feel that way whether it’s spring, summer, fall or winter. I did love the surprise of Wing It. That and Sky High were the winners for me in this collection, color-wise.
The whole collection is not an exact dupe for this one, but see here for swatches of the Zoya Feel Collection, which pretty much covered the trendy neutrals for winter.
The cremes applied well, as did the shimmer. The JESSICA formula is one of my favorites!
You can find this collection online at JESSICA Cosmetics International’s website, and at salons and spas internationally. This collection became available in April. The polishes retail for $7.50. Monarch, Sky High and Wing It are also available in JESSICA GELeration Soak-Off Gel Polish.
