My hair might get darker as I get older, but my eyebrows still seem pretty light.
I like to use an eyebrow enhancer – a pencil or powder/gel/wax – when I’m going somewhere nice. I’ve used an Avon eyebrow pencil and Smashbox Brow Tech, and while I’ve not been disappointed by these products, I’ve not been enamored enough to use them everyday. Between the two, I prefer Brow Tech.
Brow Tech’s powder/gel combination (powder on one side, gel on the other) is blendable and looks good. But the gel gets used quicker than the powder, and I just haven’t bothered in months.
Enter IT Cosmetics Brow Power Perfector 5-in-1 Powder Gel Pencil Duo. This pencil is everything I want – it is powder and gel, and it can shape and brush my brows. According to the description on QVC:
- It’s a fill-in powder,
- Brow pencil,
- Brow-taming gel,
- Brow conditioning treatment
- and brow brush all in one.
What struck me most when I first tried Brow Power Perfector is that it glides on, and is very blendable. Check out the powder/gel/conditioning tip:
And the brush:
The pencil comes in a two-pack with a sharpner:
And a leaflet that demonstrates how to apply the product:
So how’s it look on the brow?
I tried it out in blonde, and I really like how it looks. Natural, and not drawn on. I also can’t get over how it feels to apply it. This pencil does not feel like a pencil when you put it on. It’s much smoother, like pencil-shaped gel!
I’m sure the ingredients are the reason for that. This formula is infused with ingredients such as biotin, lecithin, saw palmetto, nettle leaf, horsetail flower extract, green tea, grape seed extract and antioxidants. It’s also paraben-free, fragrance-free, phthalate-free, and sulfate-free. IT Cosmetics, by the way, is also cruelty-free.
Specifically, the ingredients are: mica, cyclomethicone, trimethylsiloxysilicate, cyclopentasiloxane, ceresin, polyethylene, cyclohexasiloxane, di-PPG-3 myristyl ether adipate, euphorbia cerifera (candelilla) wax, phenyl trimethicone, acetylated sucrose distearate, disteardimonium hectorite, lysolecithin, tocopheryl acetate, propylene carbonate, phenoxyethanol, silica, soluble collagen, retinyl palmitate, tocopherol, magnesium phosphate, hydrolyzed collagen, hydrolyzed silk, serenoa serrulata fruit extract, biotin, urtica dioica (nettle) leaf powder, equisetum arvense extract, lecithin, pantothenic acid, camellia sinensis leaf extract, vitis vinifera (grape) seed extract, ascorbic acid, retinyl acetate. May contain: iron oxides (CI 77492), iron oxides (CI77499), titanium dioxide (CI 77891).
I use the brush first to tame my brows. Then I use light, feathery strokes to fill in my natural brow, and enhance the shape. As a finishing touch, I brush through my brows with the spooly brush again. You have a few minutes of playtime before Brow Power Perfector sets in place.
Brow Power Perfector stays in place all day for me. I love it. I once had a reader gently suggest I use something on my brows for my eye makeup posts; I never really bothered but friends, here it is! I use it daily, so you’ll start seeing my brows filled in from now on in my makeup posts!
This pencil is sold in a duo pack through QVC for $26.38. There are four color choices: blonde, universal taupe, dark brown and auburn.
