New Shades of Milani Nail Lacquer Part 1

Milani gave its regular nail lacquer line a huge, trendy update, adding 22 new shades for 2012. I’ve got 19 shades to share with you, so I’m splitting them up into two posts. Nine today, and 10 in another post.

The new lacquers come in a variety of finishes and colors, from trendy greys and taupes to foils and pink shimmers.

Swatches, shall we?!

Orchidia:

Orchidia is a pretty purple with white shimmer.

Signature Gold:

Signature Gold is a golden chrome that was a bit prone to brush stroke streaking.

Beachfront:

Beachfront is a gorgeous baby blue with white shimmer.

 Juno:

Juno is a gorgeous powder pink with a subtle pink shimmer. It’s barely perceptible on the nail, but very pretty.

Silver Stilettos:

Silver Stilettos is a gorgeous silver foil.

Dark Coffee:

Dark Coffee is a vampy dark brown creme.

Teddy Brown:

Teddy Brown is a trendy milk chocolate creme.

Deep Thoughts:

Deep Thoughts is a vampy purple shimmer.

Sail Away:

Sail Away is a blue foil.

Color Thoughts

While I don’t feel blown away by the selection of color in this batch of new shades, I am impressed with updated selection in their line. I think it’s important for different polish and cosmetic brands to add popular colors to their lines. Since everyone’s chemistry is different and what chips on me might work great on you, it’s nice to know that you can find trendy colors in multiple drug store and salon lines.

I think Beachfront is my favorite color of the bunch, with Juno a close second. This is a surprise for me, because I generally shun pinks as favorites – I feel it’s the one color that has been manipulated so much I find it hard to see it as unique.

Dupe Talk

I’m sure these all have polish sisters – even Beachfront. I’m glad to see blue getting some spotlight time right now!

Applications Issues

I had no application issues with these, except Signature Gold, which was prone to brush strokes.

Additional Information

These new shades are available for $4.49 a piece on the Milani website, and are available at select CVS stores.

What do you think of these nine of the 22 new shades, so far?
