As we all know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Among the “pink” merchandise for sale – many items which benefit research and awareness – is OPI’s annual offering to raise awareness and support the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Pink of Hearts. This year, Pink of Hearts is Pink Shatter.
Also, part of its annual Pink of Hearts campaign, OPI will make a $25,000 donation to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Since 2007, OPI has produced Pink of Hearts, naming a different shade of pink each year. This year, banking on the popularity of its Shatter line of crackle nail polishes, OPI released Pink shatter.
Swatches, shall we?!
Pink Shatter is a bright pink shimmer crackle. It behaved like all its brothers and sisters in the Shatter family, so I have no complaints on formula or performance.
Each bottle of Pink Shatter comes with the tag you see in the last photo. It opens and explains how to use the Shatter.
I used Pink Shatter over a flea market find, Midie Nail Polish (no name or number on the bottle!).
What do you think about Pink Shatter as this year’s Pink of Hearts? I wonder if this will be more popular than Pink of Hearts in years past. While I think a lot of people will collect it, and many will like having a pink crackle, I also think pink crackle is already available and the polish fan community as a whole seems to have grown tired of crackle. I wonder if many will be after this like they were Black Shatter when the Katy Perry collection came out?! I doubt it, but the meaning behind it will probably sell it, too.
I bought Pink Shatter, but for the life of me, I can’t remember where!! Oh my. I’m gettin’ old! Ha! It retails for $8.50, though, and is available through this month at pro salons and beauty supply shops, and Ulta and Trade Secret.
