New! Jordana Color Effects Powder Eyeshadow Duos

I love that drugstore brands are really bringing their ‘A’ game when it comes to creating affordable, quality alternatives to trendy department store brands.

Jordana is the latest brand I’ve discovered to offer a decent eyeshadow formula in an array of colors and finishes for rough-economy-friendly prices. Friends, meet the company’s new line of eyeshadows: Color Effects Powder Eyeshadow Duos!

These eyeshadows each contain two colors, an eyelid and a crease shade, with 2.66g of product in each round palette. They retail for $3.49 on the Jordana web site and at Walgreens.

Each swatch photo with the colors on the back of my hand includes the two colors swatched on the left, and then swatched over Urban Decay Primer Potion on the right.

Double Effect:

Double Impact is a green and golden yellow shimmer duo. These shadows are velvety to the touch, especially the golden yellow shimmer!

Twice the Fun:

Twice the Fun is a blue grey shimmer and a pearly cerulean blue. Again, these felt velvety to the touch.

Twofold is a purple with blue undertones, and a pink shimmer. They are smooth to the touch.

My Other Half:

My Other Half is a silver and black shimmer. The black has bits of silver glitter, and is a bit rougher to the touch than the silver.

Perfect Team:

Perfect Team is a matte white and black combination. These are both smooth to the touch.

Smoky Purple:

Smoky Purple is a rose pink shimmer and a eggplant shimmer. The purple has very fine pink glitter, and is slightly less velvety to the touch than the pink.

Smoky Browns:

Smoky Browns is a copper shimmer and a dark brown shimmer, which has very fine glitter. Again, they are both smooth to the touch but the darker brown is slightly less smooth than the copper.

Splitting Image:

Splitting Image is a golden beige shimmer and a brown with gold shimmer. They are velvety to the touch.

Double Impact:

Double Impact is a red brown with bits of fine red glitter shimmer, and a light pink shimmer. The darker color in this is a bit gritty to the touch, and the pink is smooth.

Good Match:

Good Match is a matte bisque and a matte beige. They are smooth to the touch.

You can see from the swatches that these do their best work over UDPP. I would strongly suggest a primer of your choice underneath these shadows.

Shadows in Action

I used a couple of these so far and thought I’d share the looks and how they wore!

Using Good Match:

Good Match is a PERFECT pair of neutrals for work. I dressed it up with a dash of color by using Jordana EasyLiner for Eyes in Mint (review on EasyLiners coming!). This look lasted from the time I applied it at 7:30 a.m. until the time I took it off at 5 p.m.!

I also used Jordana EasyShine Glossy Lip Color in Raspberry (review coming soon!) and Best Lash Extreme Volumizing Mascara, which I reviewed here.

A look with Double Impact:

Again, these shadows wore for hours. This time, I had this look on from 7:30 a.m. until I went to bed at 10:30 p.m. that night and my eye makeup still looked good, no creasing. That’s really awesome! I do think credit needs to go to Urban Decay for creating a product that can make almost any eyeshadow – expensive or cheap – last for HOURS.

I also used EasyLiner in Brown Suede (as I said, review to come!), FabuBrow Eyebrow Pencil in Taupe (review to come!), Best Lash Extreme Volumizing Mascara and EasyShine Glossy Lip Color in Sugar Plum (review to come!).

Overall, I feel that these shadows are a great drugstore find! You can mix and match the colors for different looks or stick to one duo per look. I like that there are different finishes – matte and shimmer, pearl and glitter.

I’ll be sharing looks in quickie posts from the other eight Duos as I use them, so stay tuned!

Have you seen these at Walgreens? Will you be picking any of them up? Share your thoughts below!
