CND Shellac: The Removal

All good things must come to an end, and so I had to remove my beautiful, long-lasting CND Shellac pedicure. You can read my review of it here – it lasted almost a month!

Removal is what I feared most about a Shellac mani or pedi, because I have had a gel nail polish manicure, and it damaged my nails. I really held off on getting Shellac for this reason. I didn’t realize, until now, that Shellac is so different.

When the folks at the CND booth at CosmoProf sent me on my way after giving me a great pedi with Shellac Purple Purple and Zillionaire (two of six new colors coming to the Shellac line – more info is in the post I linked to above), I took with me a small baggie with Solar Oil and Shellac Remover Wraps. The instructions are very clear on the back, and I planned to follow them when the time came.

(Click to enlarge and read the following!)

Here’s a look at the remover wrap, pre-soak and application:

I found that wrapping these around my toes wasn’t too hard:

At first, I did one toe on each foot, to see how it would go. Then I went back and did the rest.

I left each wrap on for 10 minutes, per directions.

As the fourth step advises, when the 10 minutes were up, I twisted the wrap as I pulled it off my toes, and here’s what was left on the first toe I did:

Oh no, I thought! There’s a chunk still adhered to my nail! To my surprise, it didn’t matter. The Shellac leftovers slid off my nail easily with the help of an orange stick, which was included in the package of wraps:

The best part? NO DAMAGE to my toenails!

After I was done, I rubbed some Solar Oil onto my toes, and felt rather pleased that it was such a painless experience:

If I had the money, I would buy myself the Shellac system and never do my toes any other way again. But I don’t have that kind of money. I do, however, have money to go to the salon and get another Shellac pedicure, which I plan to do before vacation in less than two weeks!!

My Shellac experience, from start to finish, has really been positive. This is a product I would recommend to anyone. Esepecially for a manicure – if you don’t like to change things up, this really seems like a great way to get a shiny, two-week manicure without damaging your nails with acrylics or gel nail polish.

That really lasted quite some time. Glad that it didn’t damage your nails. Where you going on vacation? I guess you can’t wait! Have a nice weekend.
