Have you ever taken a road trip? Headed out on the open asphalt and taken a tour of sites unseen?! Gone across your country - whether it’s the USA or Italy – in a car? I haven’t done this, but I have driven twice back and forth between NJ and Florida, and while it’s not a very romantic or scenic drive (mostly highway), it is exciting to do, nonetheless.
OPI has decided that the road trip is worth honoring with its fall/winter 2011 collection, Touring America. OPI says its new collection is inspired by Americana and cities with rich cultural heritage, and Suzi Weiss-Fischmann’s own road trip across the country sparked the creation of this 12-piece offering.
“Autumn is a time for reinvention, and these shades revive classic, iconic colors for fall, from cool heather, khaki and chocolate to warm rose, peach and red.” says Suzi, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director, in a press release. “This collection will take women around the world on the ultimate tour across the USA, with stops in Baltimore, Clarksdale, Hollywood, Jackson Hole, Memphis, Milwaukee, New Orleans, New York City, Philadelphia, Seattle, St. Louis and Tucson,” explains Suzi.
With that, shall we get started on a trip through each color?!
A-Taupe the Space Needle:
A-Taupe the Space Needle is a taupe creme. This taupe leans green on me.
Get in the Expresso Lane:
Get in the Expresso Lane is a rich, dark brown creme.
I Brake for Manicures:
I Brake for Manicures is an eggplant-plum creme. I love how it looks in the flash photo – so pretty and dusty!
Road House Blues:
Road House Blues is a blue creme that looks way more bright in my photos than it does in the lighting of my house. It looks like a dusty, muted blue in here!
Honk If You Love OPI:
Honk If You Love OPI is a dark grape creme. I thought it was interesting, the color shifts in the first and second photos, so I included both!
Uh Oh Roll Down the Window:
Uh Oh Roll Down the Window is an olive green creme. I find the name really amusing on this one, and imagine all the times I’ve felt car sick! But take it from me…pull over. Don’t roll down the window…that’s just messy! hahaha.
Suzi Takes the Wheel:
Suzi Takes the Wheel is a light gray creme, kinda reminds me of new cement.
French Quarter For Your Thoughts:
French Quarter For Your Thoughts is another gray creme. It’s very close to Suzi Takes the Wheel, except this one has more of a white undertone while Suzi seems to have more yellow.
Color to Diner For:
Color to Diner For is a rosy red shimmer. This is one of my favorites from the collection!
My Address is “Hollywood”:
My Address is “Hollywood” is a rose-pink shimmer that I find interesting, along with the next two, in a fall collection!
Are We There Yet?:
Are We There Yet? is a melon shimmer. This is another of my favorites.
I Eat Mainely Lobster:
I Eat Mainely Lobster is a coral shimmer – it’s a brighter version of Are We There Yet?
I know I named a couple as my favorites as I showed swatches of each one, but I have to admit, I am really loving the cremes in this collection, and I mean the first six I showed. I like the grays, but I am really feeling the first six in this post.
The light shimmers are quite unexpected for fall – but we have seen so many depressing colors for the season that it perks things up a bit, gives us the idea that we don’t have to abide by some standard of color – which most nail fanatics don’t, anyway! We want to wear a melon shimmer in fall, so be it! OPI is just giving us a new one for the season!
Also, as this is a road trip-themed collection, and the East Coast and the West Coast – and everything in between! – are different, it makes sense to have vampy polishes and shimmery, light-hearted polishes. Surely the culture in Tucson is not the same as here in Philadelphia Surely, the fall weather is not the same in New Orleans as it is in New York
Application on these was fine. I encountered no issues. OPI delivers. The brush was fine.
