Cult Nails Hypnotic Collection

I’m very excited to bring you a review of Cult Nails’ fall Hypnotic Collection today!

I had the pleasure of meeting the creator of Cult Nails, Maria, while at Cosmoprof North America in Las Vegas last weekend. She is a lovely person, and I had a great time getting to know her, her friend Ana and all the other bloggers I met! I will definitely be posting some of those pics soon!

Anyway, I have also enjoyed reading Maria’s blog on Cult Nails, and keeping up-to-date on the inspirations behind her various collections, and how Cult Nails is growing. In this way, I feel Cult Nails is different from many other brands out there – by following along with Maria’s creation of a polish or collection, I feel drawn in and part of the process. I look forward to making my purchases, and feel connected to the polishes I buy. Does this sound crazy, or do you feel that way too about a brand, or about Cult?!

For fall, Maria put three seasonal hues together with a gorgeous glitter that I really need a backup bottle of! Let’s just get right to the swatches, so you can see what I mean!

First up! In a Trance:

In a Trance is a gorgeous olive green shimmer that shifts with gold! I love that first swatch photo – you can almost see some copper particles of shimmer in this polish. While this is likely dupable to something similar, it has a glow that makes it unique in my collection. Formula and application were spot on.

Maria describes this color as “reminiscent of an aged skeleton key.”

Enigmatic:

As you can see in the outdoor lighting vs. shade photos above, in the shade, it looks like a dark vamp with particles of silver shimmer. But in the sun, it pops! Enigmatic is a bit watery in application – I swatched it with two coats and it looks fine, but I would do a third for good measure when I wear it.

Awakening:

Awakening is a dusty, shiny teal creme – the basic polish color in the collection. Maria said every collection she creates has a “necessary basic.” This one is a bit watery in formula, but after two coats it is opaque and looks fantastic. I love the green-leaning of this teal, and I think this one is perfect to get your Teal Toes on in September!!! 🙂

Hypnotize Me:

Hypnotize Me is my favorite of this collection, because it transforms each polish. It is a green jelly loaded with fine blue and green glitter. I didn’t swatch it over Enigmatic, or on its own, but I can only imagine…the glitter in this polish is a gorgeous combination and the texture is smooth. The glitter seems suspended over the color on your nail. Like I said, I need a back-up bottle. Let’s check it out over In a Trance:

Oh my. The green and blue really play off the olive green and gold in this combo!! Click to enlarge!

Over Awakening:

Over Awakening, I love this even more. My favorite color is blue, and one of my favorite polishes is BB Couture for Men Pipe Bender, which combines green and blue. THIS combo just jumped onto my list of favorites, it is so shimmery and colorful!!

And I have to share a bottle shot of Hypnotize Me:

Seriously swoon-worthy.

Overall, I think I’d take Awakening, Hypnotize Me, In a Trance and leave behind Enigmatic. I have a lot of polishes that are purple shimmers. Although Awakening and Enigmatic were watery in application, Awakening built up nicely in two coats and for me, Enigmatic would build up in three. I like the round shape of the Cult Nails bottle, and had no issues with the brush.

Cult Nails lacquers are available for sale online at www.cultnails.com.  Each 0.5 fl. oz. bottle sells for $10 USD. This collection will be available soon. The pre-order sale closed about a week or so ago.
