OPI has released the next three polishes in the Serena Williams series, Glam Slam! This time, the polish release coincides with Wimbledon, and the three polishes, grouped in two duo packs, is called Glam Slam! England.
The first lacquer set includes Your Royal Shine-ness, a metallic silver shade, paired with Servin’ Up Sparkle, a holo shimmer-packed silver glitter. The second lacquer set also features Servin’ Up Sparkle, along with Grape…Set…Match, a metallic purple.
Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director, said in a press release, “The next big trend in nails is making lacquer look three-dimensional by adding different micas and glitters, turning fingertips into jewelry. With two bold metallics and a sparkling glitter, these colors are fit for royalty.”
“For stand-out nails, I love experimenting with different glitter shades,” said Serena Williams, in the same press release. “The new Glam Slam! England lacquers can be worn alone for a bright pop of color, or layered with Servin’ Up Sparkle to create a textured effect.”
While I don’t think OPI invented the wheel with these colors, they are bold pops of color and sparkle – How about a servin’ of swatches?!
Your Royal Shine-Ness:
Your Royal Shine-Ness is a gorgeous silver metallic foil. This packs a lot of shimmer and shine, but isn’t necessarily unique. I keep wanting to call this a “dirty” silver, if that makes sense! I had no issues in application with this polish, and I used two coats here.
Grape…Set…Match is the stunner for me in this three-piece release. It’s packed with this blue and magenta microshimmer or glitter or whatever you want to call it – it’s very vibrant in certain lighting. In other lighting, it’s just a gorgeous purple shimmer. I don’t think this is unique, either, I might have to hunt around in my purple stash and see if I can find dupes. But of these three polishes, I certainly think it’s the best one! I applied this in two coats – it is opaque and easy to use.
I did not shoot Servin’ Up Sparkle by itself, but rather over the other two polishes. Check her out over Grape…Set…Match!:
Servin’ Up Sparkle is a nice glitter top coat – it’s got lots of small hex holo glitter, and regular holo glitter, in a clear base. I think it really pops on Grape…Set…Match! It’s just stunning! I used one coat of it over the base color, and I was a bit disappointed that not more hex glitters came onto the nail.
Over Your Royal Shine-Ness:
With Your Royal Shine-Ness as the base, I did two coats of Servin’. This time, the effect was not just glitter standing out over a bright color, but the change in texture on the nail. It went from foil to glittery foil! I did two coats of Servin’ over Shine-Ness, and noticed that a lot of the hex glitters gathered at the tip of the nail. Not sure why that is, but I tried to get them to spread out a bit. Otherwise, application was fine. Two polishes that remind me a bit of this top coat come to mind: NYX Girls polish in Spotlight or Kleancolor Bridal Shower (which is actually almost opaque in two coats but same concept).
I think it would have been cool to see a black holo glitter paired with Your Royal Shine-Ness, instead of Servin’ Up Sparkle. I think the contrast would have been just as cool, if not more, than the contrast of the texture with Servin’!
Overall, these will be nice duos. I see the one with Grape…Set…Match flying off the shelves!
