I’ve been hooked on mineral eye shadow for several months now. Once I figured out that if I do my eye makeup first, clean up the fall-out before doing the rest of my face, using mineral eye shadows, or loose pigments, became a regular practice for me.
I just find that the color payoff is phenomenal, and the shimmer these types of shadows pack, depending on finish and brand, is amazing!
While I’ve now used and loved Meow Cosmetics, Evil Shades, Hi-Fi Cosmetics and Aromaleigh (along with Bare Minerals, of course!) I have found there’s a place I can go that I don’t have to wait days to get my order – I can try the colors on my hand, in the sun, and it’s instant gratification since I walk away with my shadows right then!! (Although I do kinda like the “it’s Christmas!” feeling when I get an order in the mail!)
Natural Beauty is a mineral makeup line that I’ve found – surprisingly! – at the Columbus Farmer’s Market in Columbus, NJ. My only problem is, I double-checked before posting, and their web site isn’t working. So I hope that my find isn’t fleeting, and that they are still going to the Farmer’s Market! I guess I’ll find out next time I go!
Anyway, while suddenly it seems popular to have tables with MAC knockoff pigments and makeup, I’ve found something made naturally, with a great color selection and awesome customer service.
By the way, here’s how I could tell the difference between what I buy at MAC and the flea market:
The labels are different. The color payoff on the ones I’ve bought from the flea market are not as great as MAC pigments bought in the store, either. Hmm. I actually threw my flea market finds away, because I didn’t think they were legit and I was afraid of what might be in them, and unsure of whether they were hygienically created.
Anyway! Back to Natural Beauty! Here’s some swatches of the colors I’ve picked up. I didn’t use a primer to swatch them. There are a couple that are missing their name tags at the bottom of the container, and I’ve marked those as “Missing Name:”
Gorgeous colors, right? The first time I stopped by the Natural Beauty table at the flea market, the husband and wife team selling their mineral makeup blew me away. They were knowledgable about makeup, friendly, and the wife even offered me a paper towel to wipe the sweat from my forehead – it was a scorching day in summer. I had such a pleasant customer service experience I crossed my fingers that the makeup would be as great as they were!
I was not disappointed!
I bought the shadows five for $20, I believe.
I emailed the company when I first saw that their web site didn’t offer their products for sale, and I was hoping to find out a) if they repackaged colors or b) planned to sell online. But like I said, I’m disappointed to say that the website no longer works, and I never heard back from them; I emailed months ago. Still wanted to share this post with you, though, as I enjoy the makeup!
Have you discovered anything like this at your local flea market? Have you found a small makeup company that is local, like this?

That’s great that you found a place locally to buy your mineral makeup. Also very tempting! You should have saved the minerals to use for frakens. One of these days I’m going to try my hand at some. I have tons of mineral makeup.
