Clinique Redness Solutions Foundation

One thing I learned from my brief stint working in beauty retail is that a lot of women are in search of their own, personal Mr. Right  – in foundation!

And finding the right foundation is tricky. There are different textures – liquid, mineral powder, stick, cream – and different finishes. Do you want something with light coverage? Or something thick? Something matte, or something that gives you a glow?

It can be a bit overwhelming.

My biggest challenge in finding a great foundation is that I have rosacea. So, I want something strong enough to even my skin tone, and not make me break out. But I don’t want to look like makeup is caked on my face, either.

Of the two foundations I used most this year, the one I discovered a couple months ago, Clinique Redness Solutions Makeup SPF 15 with Probiotic Technology, is my current love. My Mr. Right Now Foundation, if you will! (Because honestly, don’t we all have the try the newest, nextest, big thing, even when we have our perfect product?!)

Here are some more product shots:

This particular line of foundation boasts that it will correct flushing, blushing and redness on contact. The description on the Clinique website reads: Soothing oil-free makeup instantly colour-corrects flushing, blushing. Calming ingredients help minimize flare-ups. Beneficial probiotic technology helps strengthen skin’s barrier. Keeps environmental triggers at bay with SPF plus antioxidants.

I would say it diminishes my redness on contact pretty well!:

Right side of my face before foundation; left side is after Clinique Redness Solutions Makeup SPF 15 with Probiotic Technology.

This foundation shows me what my face would look like without the ruddiness. The color of Calming Alabaster is closest to what my skin tone is naturally right now (in winter). In fall, I was using Calming Fair. I use a foundation brush to apply it.

The foundation is a liquid, and although it boasts moderate coverage on the website description, it is a heavy coverage for me. For example, if I blow my nose a lot (which I recently did when I was sick!) it will come off and I will look a little funny with my red, rosacea bumps and wiped off foundation.

When I wear this foundation, it really makes me feel balanced. It provides me with an even palette to have fun with all the colorful makeup I own and love! It hasn’t cured my redness, or minimized it in the long-term, but it helps me on a daily basis.

Redness Solutions Makeup SPF 15 with Probiotic Technology comes in six shades and retails for $24.50 at Sephora, and most other places you can buy Clinique.

Have you found your Mr. Right Now Foundation?

Thank you for this post! I have such an issue with redness across my nose and cheeks, and everything that covers well feels so heavy! Not only is all the redness covered, but your face has a very pretty glow to it! Very nice!

This does feel a bit heavier than the mineral foundations I was wearing previously, but I love how it looks and it’s not as heavy as other liquids I’ve worn! Thank you for your compliments, Jenny!

Wow, the difference is seriously amazing! I’m not really a foundation person, I just wear a tinted moisturizer, but my cheeks are very red and splotchy and it’s hard to cover up.

I love tinted moisturizer, but it’s lately not been strong enough. I like Smashbox’s tinted moisturizer. Also – a red correcting fluid can help with some ruddiness. It’s what I did before redness solutions started popping up all over the place.

Looks great! My skin is very red so I look for a foundations with the best coverage possible. My skin is also very pale so it shows the red even more and is very difficult to find the right shade. My hg right now is Revlon Colorstay in ivory.

Thanks, Millie! I hear you on the pale skin! Not only do I have rosacea, but because I’m fair I have lots of little veins that you can see under the surface of my skin. Just uncomfortable and makes me self-conscious. I appreciate that companies put out products like this!

Does a wonderful job giving you a nice even complexion. I use Laura Geller’s Balance and Brighten which is a baked powder foundation. This does a pretty decent job. I haven’t worn liquid foundation in a very long time. I just hate the way it feels on my skin. I was using Bare Minerals and have a ton of the stuff left. I trade off and on. Your makeup does look wonderful and flawless.

Thanks Lucy! I really like Laura Geller. I’ve been wanting to try the body frosting! I agree – liquid foundation feels different than mineral/powder, and I prefer the mineral. But this one is alright!

Judy this looks awesome on your face! Redness is gone and your face looks so fresh! I don’t know if this is released here but if I find it I’ll make sure I try it!

    1. BeautyJudy says:

Thanks, Katie! I don’t know how available it is across the globe, but you’ll have to let me know if it’s available in yoru country!

  6. The Peach says:

This foundation looks great! It seems like I saw a recent review on another blog of the Clinique redness solutions cleanser, or something like that. Its always nice when you find a product that works so great for you!

    1. BeautyJudy says:

Thanks, Peach! I will have to look for that review! I wasn’t too enthused about the cleanser, I prefer my Dove soap! But yes, it is great to find something that works and makes you feel confident!

  7. Allison says:

I use Clinique Perfectly Real foundation. But I might try this out next time I’m at the counter. I have significant redness problems.

    1. BeautyJudy says:

It really does wonders on evening out skintone and hiding the imperfections of my ruddy skin!
