Cuddle with Color – Essie Fall 2009

I stopped in Ulta to impatiently check and see if they’d gotten in the OPI Espana collection and was disappointed that no, not yet, they don’t have it.*sigh*

But then I looked on one of the end caps and they had a display of Essie, Cuddle with Color – their Fall 2009 line up! I was one ecstatic beauty blogger/polish fanatic!

With cuddly, fuzzy, cozy names like Angora Cardi and Midnight Cami, these polishes make me anticipate keeping warm on cool fall nights! The collection also has a couple bright surprises!

These retail for $8 at Ulta. The Ulta circular that starts Sunday does not show sales on Essie this coming week (sometimes you can catch the buy 2 get 1 free) BUT, the Espana collection is debuting on Sunday! WOOO HOO!

Without further ado! Essie fall swatches!

Angora Cardi

Angora Cardi

Angora Cardi is a gorgeous deep mauve!  This is definitely a nice color on my complexion and a nice transition color from late summer to fall! The formula was fine on all of these, and the application was pretty easy. I like the control I have with Essie’s brushes.

Chinchilly

Chinchilly

Chinchilly – I posted two pics in artificial light first, then outside.  It looks like clay inside and a grey creme outside. Either way, gorgeous! It’s a common color among some collections this fall and I am so glad!!!

Mink Muffs

Mink Muffs

Mink Muffs is Essie’s chocolately brown. I’d say more but this picture says it all, and I described Prince Charming here:

Orly Prince Charming and Essie Mink Muffs: chocolately dupes!

Although Chinchilly is my front runner favorite in this collection, Midnight Cami is also a favorite! It’s a deep, shimmery midnight blue. This looks dark but in the sunlight it sparkles!!! The second, blurry picture was to show you the shimmer up close:

Finally, we come to the part of the collection that completely threw me. The neons!

Essie Bright Tights

Essie Bright Tights

Bright Tights is…BRIGHT…traffic cone orange. In true neon fashion, it dried matte on my nail and I didn’t use a top coat over any of these swatches (and all were two coaters). In fall fashion: think Safety Patrol belt orange (that is, if the safety patrol still wears bright orange belts…it’s been a couple years…er decades…ha!)

Essie Pink Parka

Essie Pink Parka

Pink Parka is POW, pink! It looks like it jumped out of the summer neon collection and said “Wait! Wait! Please don’t start a new collection! I still want to be on nails!!” And the cuddly colors felt bad and let it join the fun (and provided a partner in the Buddy System with Bright Tights) But it’s cool. Maybe you had a fall or winter jacket – or parka – this bright!

These are two surprising additions to the collection but I like it. It’s different.

So what do you think of Essie’s fall line up?! Do you think you’ll wear Bright Tights or Pink Parka? Do you love Midnight Cami and Chinchilly!?!

I won’t be around this weekend, I’m shore-bound! TGIF and have a great weekend, everybody!!!

Thanks so much for letting us know that Mink Muffs and Prince Charming are dupes. I went out and grabbed Prince Charming instead of pining away for Mink Muffs. Cheaper and you get more polish.

the essie collection is making use of the fall 2009 trends in fabric colours, including neons. look to marc jacobs and michael kors to see what i mean! personally, i love neons for fall.

I picked up the four fall colors at Ulta yesterday, but I was kind of thrown off by the two neons. Don’t get me wrong, I love all things neon, but it just didn’t seem to make any sense to me for this collection. It’s like feeling all warm and cozy in bed, probably having an amazing dream, and then the stupid sun wakes you up. Not cool lol! I guess I just like for collections to be cohesive. Anyway, thanks for the great swatches!

Lola I completely agree with you about the jarring reaction to the neons! Great description! Thanks for stopping by :)

i like these nail colors but i really dont wear the color on my fingers, so fall colors would go wasted because my toes would be pretty, covered in socks and boots… :(

Essie’s Chinchilly is kinda scaring me. LOL! It reminds me of OPI’s You Don’t Know Jacques and I don’t care what anyone says but that color is so not the bee’s knees on brown skin. You, however, are rockin’ it beautifully! Angora Cardi…hmmm, I liiiike. Great swatches, mama!
